EMPLOYMENT
Pronto AI - Mechanical Engineer - April 2024 to Present
Designing and assembling mechanical subsystems to go on autonomous mining trucks in harsh environments.
Toughened design of boom gates to operate in extreme weather with little maintenance using sheet metal machining.
Labrador Systems (Robotics Startup) - Mechanical Engineer - January 2020 to October 2023
Spearheaded the detailed mechanical product requirements and helped guide the product development lifecycle.
Given a safety-first mindset, documented the safety requirements and failure modes. Designed 15 test plans and built assembly fixtures to iterate the design and improve user safety.
Led the DFM robot communication with a US-based factory for 18 months.
Ensured functionality and presented the product in media videos and at eight shows (including three CESs).
Labrador Systems (Robotics Startup) - Junior Mechanical Engineer - October 2019 to December 2020
Iteratively designed in ten months a works-like-looks-like robot with ten functional sub-assemblies and 800+ parts using SolidWorks 3D CAD, 2D drawings GD&T, and team ideation.
Personally prototyped and built six robots using 3D printing, machine shop tools, and part purchasing.
Interfaced with builders and vendors to order parts that were silicone molded, CNCd, and welded.
Ensured prototype reliability in pilot studies through recurrent servicing and documentation.
Prehensile Technologies - Engineering Intern - Summer 2018
Designed, manufactured, wired, debugged, and assembled prototype robotic over-bed table in nine weeks.
Became extremely proficient in product purchasing, SolidWorks, G-Code, CNC operation, and debugging.
Helped pitch a fully functional prototype to the management team of a major medical device company.
Geotech Environmental Equipment - Engineering Intern - Summer 2017
Completed R&D projects involving laying composite materials and silicone rubber molding and casting.
Created SolidWorks parts and drawings for use in production and applied QR/QC on the production floor.
MAJOR PROJECTS
Senior Design Project for CANVAS Technology - Team Facilitator - Fall 2018 to Spring 2019
Spearheaded the molding of a urethane airless tire for adding suspension to the CANVAS autonomous cart.
Analyzed systems using SolidWorks FEA, hand calculations, MatLab code, and a custom testing apparatus.
Sparkfun Autonomous Car Competition - Team Lead - Fall 2017
Created and led a student team to build a person carrying kart that runs autonomously in only seven weeks.
fHelped construct welded steel frame, geared drivetrain, two front wheeled steering system, and more.
Parking Assist Project - Fall 2016
Engineered a system for drivers to park easily with sound and a display indicating distance away from cars.
Used code on a micro-Arduino interfacing with ultrasonic modules, LCD display, RGB LEDs, and buzzer.
